3 Fun Summer Activities in Driving Distance of Paris, TN

Eiffel Tower Park and Pond

Like its namesake, Tennessee’s Paris has an Eiffel Tower. The one located on the grounds of the Eiffel Tower Park and Pond at 1020 Maurice Fields Dr is nowhere near as tall as the original, but it is still a fun place to visit. The park has a playground for children, a waterpark, and its own golf course. Adjacent is a stocked trout lake, which is open to anybody with a valid fishing license and trout stamp.

Many of the park’s amenities cater to children, so an investment in a Dodge Durango will ensure that you are able to fit everybody in and make as many trips there as you want to this summer.

Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge

The Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge is approximately 90 km from Paris. Located at 1371 Wildlife Drive, the refuge spans 51,000 acres and encompasses forests, farmland, and grasslands. It was originally opened to provide nesting habitat for migratory birds. Now it is a habitat for 51 species of reptiles, mammals, and amphibians. Over 300 species of birds also call the refuge home. Hunting, birdwatching, fishing, boating, kayaking, and hiking are some of the activities available there.

There is also a visitor center on-site that hosts regular talks and lectures in its auditorium. Inside the visitor center, there is also a bookstore. Free educational events are held throughout the year to give insight into the refuge’s mission, which is to provide sanctuary for animals. There are a number of nearby campgrounds worth checking out as well.

Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area

The Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area at 238 Visitor Center Dr sits on the border between Tennessee and Kentucky. It is about a 40-minute drive from Paris. The park has over 170,000 acres of varied landscapes and 300 miles of natural shoreline. Most popular with families is the park’s planetarium, which you can book tickets for online.

If you are an outdoor enthusiast, you will be pleased to know there are multiple hiking and cycling trails. Camping is allowed in the park, as are fishing, geocaching, and boating. Licensed hunts for game animals, including turkey and deer, are held throughout the year. You can apply for a permit to hunt on the park’s official website.
